Blue Lake – unknown underwater world

These amazing pictures were taken by underwater photographer National Geographic Lyagushkin Victor, who accompanied the team of divers who explore the underwater system of caves in the Blue Lake, near the Caucasus.

A diver glides over the surface of the crystal clear blue lagoon under a tree in the Blue Lake in Russia.
Blue Lake is the deepest lake in the world of karst. Its length is 235 m, width – 400 m, and depth – 243 m Photo: Diver inspecting the wall, covered with bright green moss.
Blue Lake is located at an altitude of 800 m above sea level and surrounded by mountains. It is very clean, and the night sky does not violate the light from the big cities.
Russian divers have tried to find a system of caves and the source of the river, leading to the deepest underwater cave system in the world. In the photo: Scuba diver found a tree.
Such complex and deep dives should be performed only well-trained team of professionals who work together as one.

Photographer Victor Lyagushkin decided to make pictures that would combine his love of the stars and underwater photography.
The aim of the project – to attract scientists to this lake and to encourage them to start explore it.
Submerged plants produce fluorescent green light.
The problem is that this unique lake is still poorly understood, and scientists have little knowledge of it.
