However, the term hobo nickel is generic, as carvings have been made from many different denominations.

This all sounds stimulating, I know, but have a little faith. As with all types of art, something that seems simple in explanation is made beautiful and complicated in the hands of right artists. How Outsourcing Affects The U.S. Economy!

There has been and continues to be a lot of debate over outsourcing and while supporters say that it is good for the US economy, detractors argue otherwise.

Proponents insist that outsourcing will save money for companies, will open up opportunities and will lead to more Americans holding jobs at a higher level. They feel this practice offers substantial gains to the US economy with cheaper imports and stronger exports.

Opponents who are against outsourcing argue that hiring people from foreign countries effects the US economy in a negative way and strips hundreds to thousands of Americans of jobs, especially the skilled and semi-skilled workers. They argue that the loss of competitive advantage to other countries is permanent and the American worker and economy lose forever.

All the points seem valid in their place. It has to be agreed that outsourcing does lead to loss of jobs in the US, especially those that have minimal qualifications. On the other hand, the loss of jobs is not only limited to people with minimal skills, but also jobs of skilled labor that are being outsourced to other countries.

Americans who are in poverty and willing to do minimally skilled jobs find it harder to find jobs, and poverty does nothing for the US economy, other than reduce consumer spending and tax revenues.

The image is created by user named "Dimitris DaAthens" which was originally staged in the blog, thedimitristheathens.blogspot.gr writing the following:

"MAINADES ..... In ancient Greek mythology, Maenads were the nymphs, comrades and followers of Dionysus, the name translates literally as" furious. "The word Main (singular) appears in Homer as a synonym of the word" mania . The photograph depicts a naked girl holding a bloody flag of the Greek in a short time has garnered dozens of likes and notices. The message also is "We have a dream. We're still alive. All we want is peace, but ... we must fight."

Greek people pay their taxes to the last penny

Non Greek people, should understand this about Greece's economy: The country's debt is not due to Greeks not paing taxes. The vast majority of Greeks pay their taxes to the last penny. If we didn't, our transactions would get blocked. And/or we would be in jail.

Our debt derives from:

-the (very few, but very) "big fish" that always manage to get away with everything by bribing, or exploiting the "holes" in the system.

-corrupted politicians, that have been lying to us for years, while stealing and misusing our and Europe's money.

-politicians spending trilions on expensive (and sometimes faulty) weapons, while getting something "for their trouble". Only recently, a previous Minister of Defence has been arrested for "redirecting" milions of euros to his pockets. 

And that is just the tip of the iceburg.

So don't believe the propaganda that points the finger to the Greek people. For the last three years, we barely manage to get by. People suicide because they can't pay the completely unfair new taxes. Our income (if any) has been cut to the half, while taxes have been doubled and tripled.And you know what? We, the people of Greece, don't have your (Europe's) money. We never did.

The "divide and conquer" policy of our "leaders" must be uncovered, or tomorow it will be your country's turn.This lie must come to an end.

Souvlaki is still king despite crisis

Souvlaki, the undisputed king of Greece’s street food, has yet to feel the bite of the debt-wracked nation’s financial crisis.
Despite a steady drop in the country’s fast-food business since 2009, when the debt crisis started to unfold, the number of souvlaki joints, known among locals as “souvlatzidika,” has actually grown, Kathimerini understands.
Greeks reportedly consume an estimated 3 billion souvlakia, comprising small pieces of meat grilled on a skewer, every year. Greeks reportedly spend a total 2.5 billion euros on souvlakia per year.
Between 1992 and 2008, the local fast-food industry grew at an average of 15.2 percent each year as souvlaki, pizza and snack/sandwich shops proliferated and armies of food delivery bikes roamed city streets.
Recent figures released by ICAP show the economic crisis has caused an annual 4 percent drop in the sector. However, independent local outlets appear to be the most resistant to the downturn. Experts say success is mostly thanks to the small number of staff -- in most cases the owner plus a few family members -- which has allowed these businesses to maintain large profit margins. New souvlaki joints keep springing up, even in the relatively more expensive areas such as the capital’s central Kolonaki district.
Intense competition however does not seem to have come with better quality. The majority of outlets rely on a small number of suppliers and this inevitably leaves a uniform taste in the mouth, one businessman explains.
“In the past, souvlatzidika owners used to buy meat and prepare the gyros themselves. Now most of them buy the meat after it’s already been put on the stick or the spit,” the man, who asked that his name not be used, said. “About two dozen meat processing companies basically serve all of Attica. The taste will inevitably be uniform,” he said, adding that most of the pita bread and fries are readymade.
Economies of scale have had a similar impact on the local pastry business, as most cheese and spinach pies are prepared by a few wholesale bakeries. “Soon salads will also be subjected to the trend,” the businessman said.
